Thomas Meyer Trio

Thomas Meyer is an accomplished pianist from San Diego, California who recently completed his bachelor’s degree in the California State University Northridge Music Industry Studies program. Meyer prides himself on his musically diverse playing spanning genres from funk, rock, classical, R&B, Afro-Cuban, Brazillian, and jazz.

Thomas initially took lessons within the classical and popular sphere, but at the age of seventeen, he began to branch out to study the jazz idiom. This quickly became a passion of his and a style that he steadfastly pursued. With a keen passion to learn, and striving to expand his jazz vocabulary, Thomas has since honed his skills under the tutelage of virtuosos such as Gilbert Castellanos, Sam Hirsh, Irving Flores, Gary Fukushima, and Otmaro Ruiz.

Currently, Thomas is a regular session musician having collaborated with the likes of many talented local and musically diverse artists and bands such as Tito Puente Jr, Manny Cepeda, The Gravities, Riston Diggs, Kahlil Nash, Rob Thorsen, Bill Caballero, and Leonard Patton. Lately, Thomas performs a wide range of music with his trio, including original compositions, pop songs, jazz standards, and material from the Afro-Cuban repertoire. His regular band consists of esteemed bassist Angelica Pruitt and talented drummer Justin Joyce. Each member brings their unique sound to the table to form deep musical conversations that will both stimulate and entertain listeners.
